Walnut cake
125 gr soft butter

125 gr sugar

3 eggs
250 gr flour

1 teaspoon baking powder
0.5 dl milk

150 gr walnuts

peel of 1 orange
syrup:
0.5 dl water

3 tablespoons lemon juice
250 gr sugar

How to prepare:
Preheat the oven to 175°C/350°F (fan oven 160°C/310°F).
Stir the butter with the sugar creamy and till it has a light colour.
Beat the eggs 1 by 1 into the butter mixture.
Add the sifted flour, baking powder and the milk while whipping well. Stir the (roughly) ground walnuts, grated orange peel and salt into the batter.
Fill the greased baking pan. Bake the cake about 45 minutes, take out of the pan, pour the syrup over and let cool on a wire rack.
sugar syrup:
Put the water in a sauce pan with the lemon juice and the sugar and bring while stirring to a boil.
Let the mixture boil over medium to high heat about 5 minutes.
Pour the warm sugar syrup over the walnut cake while still warm and let cool.
Cut the cake in not too thin slices.
